A Brief History

This congregation came into being in 1828 as part of a growing frontier religious movement under the leadership of Alexander Campbell and Barton Stone.  This movement has sought to bring unity to the Christian community and the world through the simple unifying principle of confession of faith in Jesus Christ.  A guiding slogan states, “In essentials, unity.  In nonessentials, freedom.  In all things, love.”

 

Throughout the years this congregation has served the Wilmington Community under the guidance of the Spirit of Christ to provide worship, Christian education, fellowship and service.  We are still growing in these endeavors, ever searching to be faithful to our Lord.
